Guess Who? is the browser version of the classic face-deduction game, and it is a different animal from everything else on a Bloons shelf. There is no tower to place and no balloon wave to survive. You face a computer opponent across a board of cartoon faces, each of you secretly holding one character, and the first to work out the other's pick wins.
A round is a quiet few minutes of elimination logic. That is the appeal if you have spent an hour tuning a Bloons TD defence and want something that asks you to think rather than click fast. It also suits a quick break, since a game ends on its own and the next one is a single click away.
How to play
This build is a single-player game against the CPU, played with the mouse or a finger on a touch screen. A keyboard is not needed, and despite what some listings say, there is no two-player split-keyboard mode here.
- Choose the character you want the computer to try to guess. The prompt on screen asks you to pick your character.
- On your turn, pick a yes/no question from the box at the bottom, such as whether the character wears glasses, has a beard, is bald or has a particular hair colour. The answer comes back about the computer's hidden character.
- Use the answer to flip down every face that no longer fits. Then the CPU asks you a question about your character, and the turns alternate.
- When you think you know who it is, make your guess. Be sure before you commit: the game asks you to confirm, and a wrong guess costs you the round.
Tips
- Prefer questions that split the remaining faces roughly in half. A question that only a couple of faces match is a long shot, while a good split removes about half the board whatever the answer.
- Count the faces left before every question. Once you are down to two or three, a direct guess is usually better than another question.
- Remember that a "no" is as useful as a "yes". Many players only take action on a "yes" and forget to cross off everyone who matches the feature when the answer is "no". Cross off in both directions.
- Watch for features that overlap, such as hair colour and bald. Asking about one can answer the other.
Similar games on Bloons TD
If you want to stay with the site's theme, Bloons TD and Bloons TD 2 are the classic lane-defence games where you place monkeys and pop balloons, and Bloons TD 4 adds upgrades and tougher rounds. Guess Who? shares none of that action, but it does share the same plan-ahead mindset. For other strategy picks, Castle Defender Saga and Cursed Treasure 2 are defence games with a lot more going on per turn.
It runs in the browser with nothing to install, and works on desktop, phone and tablet, which makes it an easy one to hand to someone else for a round.
